The marine life includes regular sightings of Wobbegongs and Port Jackson Sharks, huge Eastern Blue grouper, wrasse, painted shrimps, octopus, cuttlefish, squid, long fin banner fish, globe fish, blennys', and much, much more.
For beginners and experienced divers alike an escorted, Dive Centre Manly, Shelly Beach Discovery Dive is an experience that will long be remembered.

Fairy Bower
Situated between Manly surf beach & Shelley Beach, Fairy Bower is one of Sydney's easiest dive sites. The depth ranges from 7 to about 10 metres and numerous species of marine life can be spotted here, such as – 2 species of moray eels, wobbegong, port jackson and small dusky whaler sharks , as well as the resident cuttlefish, octopus, and blue gropers. Keep a lookout near the old pipes for the elusive snake eel popping its head out of the sand. Due to local council regulations we can only dive this site during the week.
This site can be dived any time except in strong N or NE winds or swells

Fairlight
Another easy shore dive, Fairlight boasts a wide range of resident sealife – Old wives, stripies, john dory, leatherjackets, bream, sea pike and the ocassional Eagle Ray are all found here. Fairlight also has a huge varieaty of nudibranchs and exotic fish species so swim slowly and keep your eyes out for the unusual. The entry point is off an exposed rock platform (low tide) - you then swim approx 50 metres to the drop off which runs parallel to the shore. Here you will find small overhangs, the wreck of a small fishing boat and some great gullys Being inside the harbour visibility ranges from 5 to 10 metres The maximum depth on this site is approx 10 metres at high tide. Fairlight is an excellent night dive.
This site can be dived anytime except during strong S of SE winds or swells.

Harbord
Located next to Freshwater Pool, this is an excellent shore dive for the more experienced open water diver . The depth ranges from approx 8 to 14 metres with a terrain consisting of boulders, overhangs, crevices & sponges. The abundant marine life consists of wobbegong sharks, huge blue gropers, weedy sea dragons, leatherjackets, occasional schools of kingfish, octopus & morwongs. Entry is made through the channel next to the pool or giant stride off the rocks. This site can be treacherous in the wrong conditions with rough seas and a dangerous rip near the entrance so please come to the shop for an orientation or join one of our guided dives.
This site can only be dived in W or NE winds and no swell, never attempt to dive here with a Southerly wind or swell.
